Securities
Securities are the most common form of noncash charitable gifts. Securiteis are easily transferred and are often more attractive to give than cash for several reasons 1) If they are appreciated, your tax deduction may be more than you actually paid for the securiteis 2) If they are appreciated, gifting them to a charity in place of cash will avoid capital gains taxes 3) You may need your cash. The most common forms of securities gifts are shares of stock, bonds, and shares of mutual funds.
